Sculpture Garden
A project of the City of Las Vegas Arts Commission

Hank Saxe and Cynthia Patterson have been commissioned to create a sculpture for the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center. Two groups of sculpture will frame the entry gate and serve as a marker to welcome visitors and to further establish an identity for the Center.

nk's Photos of the Las Vegas sign 'boneyard'

The "Boneyard" is actualy a couple of patches of vacant ground on Las Vegas Boulevard north of Downtown, where YESCO (The Young Electric Sign Company), historically the primary commercial illuminated signbuilder in Las Vegas, takes retired signs to bake in the sun.

 La Compuerta

Los Candelarias was one of the first Spanish settlements in the middle Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. Located very close to the Rio Grande bosque and Nature Center, the community still has a strong connection to its agricultural heritage.

Las Acequias

The name of the park and of the neighborhood, Las Acequias, reflects a time in the recent past when this neighborhood was pasture and cultivated fields watered by the Acequia Madre and its network of irrigation ditches fed by the Santa Fe River.

Our sculpture uses combinations of architectural materials including cast concrete, high-fire glazed tile, and stone.  It often appears to be abstract, but it has a traceable lineage to imagery and ideas that we glean from our research and discussions on what defines an area.
