These signs, primarily from hotels and casinos, date back to the
days before computerized displays, and were usually constructed of
sheet metal by skilled artisans. The lighting used hundreds or
sometimes thousands of incandescent bulbs. These
creations, some of them works of art in themselves, have taken on
the patina of several decades in the elements. The faded paint,
dented sheet metal, and rust make these signs all the more
